Acrobat addin for word

$

Hi everyone,

After installation, Acrobat installs an Acrobat tab within Word 2007 and up. If I click on that tab, I can choose the mail merge button which merges the open document to pdf files and sends by email. There's a preferences button on the Acrobat tab that allows me to set security/password for the pdf but when I create the mail merge and the pdfs are created, there is no security in the files.

I'm not sure whether I should be asking this question in a Word forum or here but if anyone has any answers, I'd be grateful.

Thanks in advance

mail merge encrypted pdf's.

Hi. I'm trying to generate pdf's using the mail merge feature in MS Word via the Acrobat PDFMaker Addin. I'm able to generate and send the pdf's without issue. The problem is that I can't restrict the recipients from editing the pdf's. I've set the security settings in the preferences menu. If I send a single pdf (no mail merge) it works fine. However, when I use the mail merge feature the document isn't encrypted.

It's the same problem reported here only none of what's suggested works for me.

I'm using Acrobat Pro 11.0.2 and MS Word 2010

I'd apreciate your help.

Word - "Merge to Adobe PDF" is ignoring protection settings

Using: Adobe Acrobat Pro DC (2015) and Microsoft Word 2016

I am trying to mail merge word documents to be individually emailed using as a pdf. Everything is working fine except for the protection settings.

My settings within word located at: ACROBAT > Preferences > Security > Permissions

Are set to restrict editing and printing.

This works fine when creating pdfs normally, but when I use the mail merge to pdf function you can still edit. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere? Any way to force this to be protected in a hidden option somewhere?

Thanks for your help.

RGB colors become dull in Acrobat PDFs

I'm using CS6 and when I create a PDF, the RGB colors appear much duller than the original source file. The shift is about (if not exactly) what you would see if you converted an RGB document with bright colors to CMYK.

I'm on a Mac using the latest update to OS X. My typical process for creating a PDF is by starting with Photoshop JPEGs and using the "Combine Files in a Single PDF" function, or by exporting an InDesign document (with RGB art) directly to a PDF.

If I open the exported PDF in either Adobe Acrobat Pro (10.1.4) or the latest version of Adobe Reader, the bright, saturated RGB colors in the original document appears noticeably dull in the PDF.

I've experimented with several different Color Settings to no avail, including different RGB settings (sRGB, Adobe RGB (1998), etc.). Currently my settings are using Bridge to Synchronize my Color Settings across my CS6 apps (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat) and have confirmed they are all reporting a Synchronized state.

My overall Color Setting is "Monitor Color" (though I've also tried others, including the default North American General Purpose). My RGB Workspace for all apps is set to the Profile of my Dell monitor, which was created with Apple's built-in calibration tool (not the best, I know, but wouldn't account for a difference as dramatic as this.) And my Color Management Policies under these Syncronized settings are all automatically set to "Off".

As a test, if I export my RGB InDesign document to a JPEG and open that file back in Photoshop, the colors are fine—unchanged from the original look as they originally appeared in Photoshop. It's only when I go to Acrobat that the colors shift to a duller version.

I keep looking in Acrobat preferences for a "Display PDF with Embedded Profile" or something along those lines, but Acrobat Color Management settings are the same as all my other CS6 apps.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

R

Acrobat PDF maker Office COM add-in generating unwanted macro entries

I have the Acrobat DC, and the Acrobat PDF maker Office COM Addin installed in Microsoft Excel 2010, running on Windows 10. When I am recording macros, it generates repeated Application.Run "CheckForPeriodicUpdates" entries in the macro. I can stop this by disabling the COM add-in. Is there a way to get the PDFMaker COM add-in to check for updates less frequently or not at all?

Convert Links to Named Destinations to Page Numbers Instead

I have a PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC that has 1,000s of named destinations. Is there a way to convert the links to these destinations to go to the page of the named destination instead?

I will never need to add or remove pages, so these destinations are not useful to me. I want the link to go to "Use Page Number" of the named destination of the action going to the named destination.

Reason... the named destinations have missing characters in them, and it is causing an import issue in another software that I use.

I tend to learn best by watching and asking questions (video training isn't so good for me).  Are there any conferences or summits that cover training on Acrobat?

Creating Bookmarks in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.5.5

1. What settings, if any, do I have to make so that when I open a document, it will always open with the "Bookmarks" panel open?

2. What settings should I make so that when I click on a bookmark it will display the page and location that was in view when the bookmark was created, which is the bookmark’s destination?  The problem I am experiencing is that bookmarks created (located) around the bottom one-quarter (1/4) of the page opens at the top of the next page when the bookmark is clicked!  However, those bookmarks located at the top 3/4 of the page opens at the created location when they are clicked.

Question Adobe Acrobat Pro DC

Hi There,

Just bought this product. Have a quick question..

When i was using the trial version, and I went to "fill and sign" I could add a box for initials on documents, as well as an "x" for where I wanted clients to sign, where do I find these options now?

Thanks!

What is "save to online account" (part 2)?

I saw a very similar question on a prior post dated 11/7/12 (what is 'save to online account'?) but didn't really understand the answer.  I am using Reader XI on a Mac (Mountain Lion 10.8) and when I try to save a pdf, it shows me a pull down menu where my choices are i) "Save to Online Account" ii) "Acrobat.com" (now shown below) or iii) "New Account..." (not shown below).

I simply want to save to my local drive and not on the cloud (I am saving a bank statement so want to keep it private).  Even though it shows me a local folder on my computer ("taxes" in the screencap below),  I still have to pick either "Save to Online Account" or "Acrobat.com".  Neither of those sounds like something I'd want to select for saving something like a bank statement.  (Sorry if screencap is blurry, but if you click on it a higher quality/legible picture will appear).

All in all, my question is what options do I select to make sure that the file is only saved locally (not put on the cloud or web)?  Or, is there another method that I should use to save?

Thanks

PDF Viewer error?

We routinely save Word documents as PDFs for archiving purposes.  We have a Word document that has tables.  The table prints correctly from Word.  When using either Save As PDF or Print to PDF to create the PDF, when viewing the electronic document in Acrobat DC, the table is missing borders on some of the rows and cells.  However, when you paper print the PDF, the table appears correctly.  Is there a way to fix the electronic view because we generally work from the electronic copy and we don't usually paper print the documents.

Thanks

I appreciate answers.

Autocad PDF underlay not visible in pdf

Running Autocad 2015 64 bit on Windows 7 64 bit with DC Pro.  The Acrobat Toolbar installed by DC in autocad will not show a PDF underlay in the new pdf file.  It shows text that reads "PDF underlays can only be viewed in the 2D wireframe visual style."  The CAD drawing is set to 2D wireframe and the pdf underlay is viewable in the CAD file.

Print to Adobe PDF has faded black - Why do my colors look crappy?

$

I used to print PDF files easily from the Adobe CS5 programs. But lately it feels as if a change happened, maybe during an update, that has affected my system colors. When I print or export to PDF from INDD or AI, the black is faded. I have better luck exporting to JPG but prefer to create PDF proofs. I believe the colors print well but the screen view is faded which is not helpful when sending proofs to clients.

I am also receiving color error messages upon opening documents. When opening an INDD file it says "The CMYK settings in this document are different than your current application settings. How do you want to proceed?" I have selected both options, "Leave the document as is" and "adjust the document to match current color settings," without print success. The odd thing is that everything seems set to CMYK and Profile shows as "U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2" which I believe is the default.

Can someone please help me. I would like to be able to print or export to PDF easily without spending hours trying to make my files look right.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Shelley
