Hello:  I need help here.   I have Adobe Acrobate Pro DC.  When I try to open an document at time I keep getting an error message stating that the document cannot be opened because it is open else where?   Why is this and how can I fix this problem?

Problem with setting: Document Properties--Initial View--Open to page

I have several documents, each having a graphic cover page. I have removed the page numbering for these cover pages. All subsequent pages in these documents have page numbers in their footers, and these numbers do in fact correspond to the PDFs' "internal" page numbering. Here's where the problem arises...

Each document needs to have specific "Initial View" settings. I want the "Navigation tab" set to "Bookmarks Panel and Page", the "Page layout" set to "Single Page Continuous", and the "Magnification" set to "Fit Page". I also want the cover page to be the initial page displayed. However, I am unable to do this because the cover page is not numbered. Here's what I see upon clicking "OK":

Acrobat-Error.png

The only thing I can do upon changing *any* setting on the "Initial View" tab, is click "Cancel". Before I describe the work-around I've figured out, I'm going to ask a couple questions. These questions might only be answerable by an Adobe developer:

(1) For the "Open to page" setting, is there a way to specify the "literal" page number for a page? (Whereas the "figurative" page number would be the number assigned in accordance with the "Page Numbering" dialog.)

(2) Why isn't there an option to set "Open to page" to "Default", like the other three settings in the "Layout and Magnification" section of "Initial View"? (Such a capability would be trivial to achieve.)

The work-around I have figured out is to first set a page number of "A" to the cover page, set the other three "Layout and Magnification" settings as I desire, and set "Open to page" to "A". Close that dialog, then set the page numbering "Style" to "None" for the cover page. This works... but a user of such powerful software should *not* have to jump through hoops to accomplish something like this.

Acrobat Pro DC Crop tool does not work!

Hi,

I have a PDF created in InDesign and I want to accurately remove (or mask which it actually does, apparently!) all the PDF outside the trim area. Which ever I use 'edit PDF/crop pages' or 'print production/set page boxes' I cannot get the tool to work. Surely I should just be able to go to margin controls and set it to 'TrimBox' click ok and done. Can anybody help with this please?

Many thanks

Martin

Can Acrobat do batch conversion of 100,000+ documents in multiple native formats into PDFs with OCR-English and OCR-Spanish?

I am trying to figure out the right kind of software for a specific conversion job. I am not very tech-literate so please keep any answers in plain language.

We anticipate having 100,000+ documents in multiple native formats (definitely Office formats but also emails and perhaps some others common to an office environment) that we need to convert to PDFs. Most documents will be in English but a small number would be in Spanish. They would need to be searchable multiple page PDF format, 300 dpi, and must be OCR-English or OCR-Spanish depending on the language of the original document.

Is it possible and fairly straightforward for a person competent with the program to do a batch conversion of a huge file of these documents (or divided into separate files by language and/or file type if necessary) using Acrobat? Judging by basic information available it seems like it should be possible, but I have received one opinion from someone knowledgeable that it would not be straightforward and that people with some expertise would need to create some scripts to complete this and that they might take 12 hours to create.

Thank you.

Make single pdf from multiple source documents

I am using the Adobe PDF printer driver under Windows 10. I have several separate but related single-page documents. I know how to "print" them to individual PDFs, but I would like to make them into a single PDF. They need to be in a certain sequence in the PDF. Thank you.

How to change page size in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro and Adobe PDF printer?

We have a problem with the wrong page size in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro. It is installed in our Citrix environment on Windows 2008 R2 terminal servers.

Per default the page size is configured to "letter" in Adobe Acrobat and in the Adobe PDF printer and we need to change it to "A4".

Acro1.PNG

Where are these setting saved and how can I change it? Is there a registry key or something else?

I found out, that it is possible to edit the template files ".joboptions" under "C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings" to change the page size for the Adobe Acrobat. Is this the only way to do this?

Acro.PNG

But how can I change the settings for the Adobe PDF printer?

Acro2.PNG

And what did we do wrong that the page size is set to "letter"?

Strange behavior when saving PDF as optimized

I noticed something strange happening when saving as optimized. Before:

PDFbefore.png

and after:

PDFafter.png

Notice the small caps dropped out and a large space was inserted between organiza and tions. I sent the file to some colleagues running the same OSX (10.11.5) and same acrobat (2015.016.20039). Some got the same results while others didn't get the small caps dropping out and the space.

Any idea what could be causing this? Ever since switching to DC we've had other problems such as being unable to combine certain files in DC but able to combine in Xii and exporting a PDF in FileMaker causing crashes.

Creating PDF from the Adobe Plugin in MS Outlook 365 no images convert.

Case 0187809571. Creating PDF from the Adobe Plugin in MS Outlook 365 works, but the images do not convert. Adobe DC was purchased and installed on 6 May and MS Office 365 was purchased and installed on 6 May. So both programs are the latest versions.

Creating a PDF of an email this way (above) results in:

I've tried 2 Chat sessions without resolution. If I "print" to PDF, it is ok:

Please help. This happens to ALL emails with images.

Combine PDF broken with Word docs

Adobe Version: 11.0.16.13

Word Version 2016 MSO 16.0.4366.1000 32Bit

OS: Windows 7 pro 64Bit

Issue: When we combine Word documents in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro, the preview thumbnails all show the same page. Also when we remove or add pages

in the preview the resulting combined PDF document doesn't reflect these changes correctly.

The same process appears to work with PDF's but not with Word docs.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Combining files in Adobe 10.1.16

We have had some users report that they can no longer combine PDFs using this version under the Windows 7 operating system.  When you try to use this feature you can see the "Checking Security Settings" text display very quickly and go away but nothing happens with the documents.  We have tried opening each document and saving as a different name, etc....    We see there have been other users posting workarounds and that seems to work but they need to combine many pdfs sometimes and they may contain many pages so the workaround really isn't feasible.  Is there any other solutions to this issue?

Excel to PDF to PowerPoint problems

$

I have a 100+ page report in Excel that I convert into a PDF using VBA. So far, so good, everything looks great.

I then am using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro to convert the PDF into a PowerPoint file and that's when the wheels come off. The charts are misshapen, the text orientation in several cells gets skewed miserably, etc. I've tried using Nitro Pro 10 to do the same and I get the same sort of problems, but in other places in the file. Between the two programs, I can generally cobble together a workable PowerPoint, but this is not ideal.

Frankly, what I would like to do is convert the PDF pages into PowerPoint as images. I think there's a good chance that this would preserve the visual formats that I want, but I've been unable to determine if this is doable. If I was doing this directly from Excel to Powerpoint, I would copy the whole sheet and paste special as an image, then position accordingly. I'd like some help figuring out if this is something I could do from the PDF using Acrobat.

Convert flash portfolios to non-flash ones

Hello,

I am using Acrobat Pro DC and I like its new kind of production of non-flash containing portfolios.

I have a bunch of more than 2000 portfolios which I produced with older Acrobat versions and which contain flash. I wonder if there is an easy (automated) way to convert them to the new portfolios without flash. A semi-automated way is to invoke the old portfolio within the explorer (Combine files in Acrobat…) as Acrobat then extracts the individual PDFs from it and combines them to the new one—but it would be a lot of work to perform that way for more than 2000 files. So I’d really appreciate a kind of batch process. Is there any possibility?

Thank you and kind regards

Albert

Adobe Pro XI and Reader DC constantly crash

I've been running Adobe Pro XI since June 2014.  In the past few months, Adobe Pro and Adobe Reader constantly crash.  My IT team could not find out why and they re-imaged by laptop only to have it start up again.  I have Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit OS.  At first the fix was restarting my computer.  Now that doesn't even work.

In looking in the event log here are the errors received:

You can install or repair the component on the local computer.  If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.  The following information was included with the event:

Those are the same error messages repeated over and over in the log.

I can't open a PDF, I can't edit a PDF, and I can't print to PDF without these issues occurring.  Any guidance on how to fix this problem is greatly appreciated.  Otherwise my IT team is going to downgrade me to Adobe Pro 10 to see if that changes anything.

Help with formulas

$

I have a fairly simple form that I need to do some simple calculations with.

Cell A is number of items

Cell B is price per item

Cell C is total cost

Easy peasy and I can do that one no problem.

The problem is Cell D:  Grand Total or adding up all of the Cell C's.

Then at the bottom of the column where Cell C is I need to total the column but since that column contains a formula its not seeing the number and therefore not giving me a grand total in Cell D.

I hope this makes sense.  Can someone help me figure out how to fix this?

Thanks much,Matthew

I want to use adobe sans mm in editing a document

Hi all,

I'm trying to edit a document but get a warning that the font adobe sans mm is not available on my system. It appears all the text in the document has been created in that font. It uses an alternative font, but not one that resembles the original at all. I would like a closely matching font, or even better just be able to use adobe sans mm. Otherwise, you can see my amendments if you look closely. I've found an arial font that will do as a substitute but want to do better.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
