I need to create a large number of PDFs from a mail merge in Word that need to have a merge field in the file names (i.e. name, user id). Is there a tool for this or could Action Wizard help?

Thanks,

After an hour or more, pages become blank white in Acrobat 11.0.09

Hello,

I have a client that is an attorney that uses a lot of PDF documents which contain mostly scanned images. Some are large, some are small. However, between 30minutes to 2 hours, when returning to an already opened PDF file, all pages are blank before and after the current page. When re-opening the document, it comes back fine.

This seems more a matter of time the PDF is open, size of document, but mostly time-related. Typically the customer will have a PDF open (large mostly), then switch to another application for a while or go to lunch, then when they return to the PDF they are viewing, they go to the next or previous page and it is blank - no images or content. They have to re-open the document again.

We have adjusted the display options already as such but this didn't help:

Acrobat -> Edit -> Preferences - Page Display

>Use System Resolution

>Smooth Text: None

>Uncheck all options in Rendering area.

System Specs:

VMware 5.5 VM using Terminal Servicee (Customer connects over RDP with a fast/reliable internet)

Server 2012 R2 (64-bit)

CPU: 2 core 2.5 GHz (utilizing 20%)

RAM: 4 GB (utilizing 85%)

Storage: Solid State Drives

Users: 6

Any questions, let me know. Any help you can provide is great.

When the e-mail is printed, the graphics display, some text is readable, but many text is garbled.  A bunch of random characters and pound signs.

Any idea how to fix this?

Drag Pages from one PDF to replace pages in another

I have recently swapped PCs out at work, and am now using Adobe acrobat 9.5.5

In the previous version that I had on my old OC you could put 2 PDF documents side by side on the screen, open the "pages" pain on each and then drag from one to the other to replace pages. This no longer works - you can still insert pages, but not replace - as I have lots of bookmarks in the documents I use simply inserting then deleting is a bit of a pain, is there a way I can make it work like the older versions?

Thanks

Tom

Exporting To Acrobat Pro

In Indesign CC, when I exported a file to pdf and checked 'view file after exporting', the pdf file always opened in Acrobat Pro (YAY).
Since installing updates, all files now open in Reader (NOOO). Is there a setting to ensure it always opens in Acrobat Pro and NOT Reader?

Help. Many times I finish my edits in PDF, all is good and I save my work. When I return to it words are missing or letters are missing in random sections. When it is a large document it is frustrating to always check it. This happens sometimes when it is all good and I just email it to someone. What am I doing wrong??

Error while saving a .PDF File to a mapped drive

The issue I am having is similar to the one found on this older post. http://forums.adobe.com/message/3066663#3066663

The issue is as follows. I have a small company about 15 users divided into a couple of departments with different networking access needs. They each have Adobe Acrobat version XI installed on a Windows 7 Platform. Each user has a set of mapped drives that correspond to their department. The Disk mappings are all directed to the main shared Network Attached Storage (NAS) device. At any time there can be a number of PDF files open and being worked in. The same PDF is usually not opened at the same time from two different locations.

The issue is that two users who do a large amount of the work, IE. Scanning documents and adding them to documents that have been previously created, are reporting the same issue. The issue is when they have the PDF document opened and they are adding new content. Once the new content is added they go to save the document and then receive the following error:

The document could not be saved. Cannot save to this filename. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder.”

In order to save the file the user has to use the save as function and then browse to the original file location to save the document with the changes that have been made.

Along with the above error we have noticed that Adobe Acrobat is renaming the file that has been changed to aae##### or aak##### or aan#####. The file name is changed causing the normal save function to not work correctly.

Is there a reason Acrobat would be doing this?

I am not using Microsoft SharePoint.

Why is appending to pdf from outlook so slow?

When I try to append a series of emails from Outlook 2010 to pdf it is very slow, even for small files.

I have tried the following with nil joy:

Reg delete “HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shellex\ColumnHandlers\{F9DB5320-233E-11D1-9F84-707F02C10627}”

Open a commandbox (cmd.exe)  with administrator rights.

Go to the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX

Type regsvr32.exe /u pdfshell.dll (this command will unregister the pdfshell.dll)

Please help, this is very annoying.

We are trying to archive some public folders we have in Office 365, with outlook 2010 and adobe 10 installed. The issue we are seeing is when opening the convert folders to PDF inside of outlook we see the public folder, we can expand the public folders but only 4 levels deep. We are unable to access any public folders past the 4 level in the directory tree. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How does authentication of PDF work?

$

I put a very vague title since I don't quite work in this field and am very ignorant on this matter......so.....don't bit me.....maybe?

I am trying to set up a document issuing system so that people requesting for the documents would receive PDF version through either web browser or a separate set of program.

Each PDF would have an authentication(certificate) but the documents would have to have their own separate certificate

so two different PDF files with different certificate could have the same contents of document.

This is required because when the client(business/person who are receiving the PDF file) asks for authenticity of the PDF through the system

the server makes note of the authentication process and keeps sending the information to the first client (who asks for authenticity) only

through whatever means of communication(whether it be a program or protocol of sort).

So there wouldn't be people/business other than the original requesting person(or receiving party for that matter) wouldn't have a form in their hand to do....evil biddings.

Is this kind of system possible to setup?

Thanks for reading and I hope I make sense....in trying to explain what I want....

Distiller will suddenly close/crash the *SECOND* time I open a file for converting to PDF.

The subject heading says it all: Distiller will suddenly close/crash the *SECOND* time I open a file for converting to PDF.

But I think I have a clue why this is happening. Typically, I use Distiller to convert EPS or PS files into PDFs. Also, almost without fail, I embed the required fonts (exclusively Type 1) directly into the EPS/PS files (using the required PFA format) so no local fonts on my computer are needed to be looked for by Distiller to be embedded in the resulting PDF; they're already in the EPS/PS files.

But yesterday, I attempted to convert some EPS/PS files to PDFs using Distiller in which I had NOT embedded the Type 1 fonts (in PFA format, of course) in the source EPS/PS files. The first such conversion would work (in which I select "Open" and choose an EPS/PS file for conversion), but after that initial conversion, the *SECOND* time I clicked on "Open" (open file), Distiller would immediately close/crash.

I then searched the web for answers, and discovered some people were having trouble getting Distiller to initialize if any of their computer system fonts were read-only. So, I went back to my EPS/PS files and embedded the required Type 1 (PFA format) fonts into them, and then—magically—Distiller worked without a hitch: I could open and convert any number of them in succession, with Distiller never closing/crashing.

So, I concluded the reason that Distiller had been crashing upon the second attempted opening of a file (again, simply by pressing the "open" button to search for a file to convert, *not* after selecting a file) must have had something to do with Distiller scanning my computer's installed fonts when there was no embedded PFA font to reference, and a read-only font on my system was causing the problem. However, I looked in the two logical places where my fonts should be located (c:\psfonts and c:\windows\fonts), but found *no* font files' attributes set to "read-only" So, I'm stumped.

I'm using Distiller Pro 10.1.1316 (acrodist.exe) on a Win 8.1 machine. I've found similar posts, going back to 2004, about Distiller immediately crashing after opening when some fonts are read-only; I haven't yet found a post about anyone successfully using Distiller to convert one EPS or PS file to PDF, and then having the program crash when the "Open" button is pressed subsequently. Any clues, anyone?

Is there a way to ensure the submit feature (using the interactive button) will work in all  browsers?  I have created optimized PDF forms and the submit button works only in Explorer.
